 Sir Walter Scott summed it up best when he wrote, “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” Through the use of a carefully worded press release and a number of well-prepared interviews, both Golden Boy Promotions and Team Mayweather practiced the art of deception, making it appear as though Manny Pacquiao’s success might be due to some type of performance-enhancing drug. The request for Olympic-style drug testing was baseless, but it was a request that was made nonetheless. Nice try Floyd, but there will be no extra blood tests, for Manny has consistently passed with flying colors every test required of him by any and all boxing commissions.
For 8 years, Pacquiao has fought in Las Vegas, passing each blood test required every time he renewed his boxing license. In total, 11 fights in Sin City, meaning at least 22 pre and post-fight urine tests that have all come back negative for any banned substance listed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. This isn’t the first time that the subject of performance-enhancing drugs has been brought up in the sport of boxing. Evander Holyfield, James Toney, Roy Jones Jr. and even current champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko have been linked to steroids within the past 10 years. That said, to this day, there has never been a change in any rules governing drug testing in the sport. Guys like Shane Mosley and Fernando Vargas, who have actually been caught in the past using steroids, have never been required to take any additional drug tests other than those regulated by the Athletic Commissions. In fact, ironically, after admitting to using steroids, both Mosley and Vargas fought each other twice in Las Vegas and yet neither one ever asked the other for additional testing.
So why now? Why, for this particular fight, would Manny be forced to do additional tests? The answer is simple…Mayweather is nervous! Never before have they ever seen the path of destruction that the Filipino icon is carving through the divisions. Never before has any fighter, not even ones who have been caught and suspended, had to subject themselves to additional testing to prove that they were not cheating. Mosley and Vargas never tore through names the manner in which Pacquiao is doing. Fearful that there’s actually a threat to his undefeated record, it’s the only explanation that Mayweather could come up with and thus, so began the campaign to tarnish Pacquiao’s legacy and perhaps avoid a fight that could earn him his first loss.
Unfortunately for Mayweather, the plan has backfired. With nothing to prove and, more importantly, nothing to hide, Pacquiao is standing firm on his position to follow the exact same rules of the Nevada State Athletic Commission that he has always followed throughout the years. Now the decision rests with Floyd as to whether or not he truly wants to step inside the ring with the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. But make no mistake, Pacquiao’s continued success throughout the years has come from nothing more than hard work and dedication to his craft. It is that hard work and dedication that truly concerns Floyd Mayweather, as he realizes that now, there’s no more protecting that unblemished record.

I remember Tito Ortiz not wanting to fight Chuck Liddel before and have so many excuses because he knows he can’t beat that guy. But then he was force to fight Liddel because theres nothing more he can turn to. Liddel then punish and knock Ortiz out.
There is a similarity in this issue because Floyd Mayweather knows he can’t win in this boxing match with Pacquiao so he resorted to many excuses. If I am Floyd I will never fight Pacquiao and just retired, let the people say what they want that he ducked all the greats at least he has still undefeated records and let all this people debate on what ifs in remembering boxing in the future.

floyd jr. is in a bind; fight for $30M or lose his 0 record, face a lawsuit in court or face his nightmare in the ring, appease the big goons of las vegas or get a good PR firm to protect his image, hide to his fans and IRS men or stand up to meet his destiny(?)and get paid well for doing so. But honestly, in my opinion, floyd jr. though it appears his the man of the hour with his big time lifestyle, down the lane in five years time, we’ll see him busted, charged, and penniless, involved in some drug cases, violence-related charges and trying to live out his once rich and famous life but could’nt afford any.

Please see various You Tubes and other videos and observe how Jr and Sr Mayweathers talk. Look at their eyes. The way I see them, I think it is the Mayweathers who are into drugs. How come they talk that way? I may be mistaken, but they look high on drugs as far as my observation is concerned. Now they make libelous statements and insinuations that it is Pacquiao taking drugs and have them circulated in various newspapers. They are guilty of libel unless they take back their insinuations.

Mayweather Sr.lost his credibility when Ricky Hatton lost to Manny very much convincingly, his only hope of survival for the limelight is his son Floyd jr.whose fame (being undefeated) is in jeopardy as well. My hats-off to Mr. Strunk for coming-up with another gem of a commentary! Pacman’s successes were indeed due to his hard work:
- Under close supervision of the “best trainer in the world” plus topnotch nutrionist, he trains very hard like he’s scheduled to fight for 30 rounds - this is the main source of his stamina.
Bob Arum was quoted as saying: He has never seen a boxer who trains as hard as Pacquiao.
- his sparmates are usually top rated fighters (with undefeated records) and usually heavier than him like Shawn Porter, a junior middleweight prospect, his main sparmate when he trained for Cotto.
- if he’s not in training for a fight, he keeps himself always in shape (playing several hours of basketball, his favorite sport), he doesn’t smoke or drink liquour and keeps his weight no more than 155 lbs.
His passion in basketball led him to maintain a strong basketball team (Gensan Warriors)that plays in a nationwide tournament (Liga Pilipinas). If he’s not training for a fight, he plays with the team. That’s how physically active he is.
More importantly, he is God-fearing who prays hard, including his customary participation in a holy mass before and after his fights. Note that everytime he fights, about 80 million Filipinos pray for him to win considering that the Philippines is the largest “Christian” country in Asia!
To sum-up: Pacman’s successes are due to hardwork,top notch coaching & technical support, quality spartmates and plenty of prayers!

Nevada State Athletic Commission should react on Team Mayweathers’ accusation that Pacquiao is hiding something and used PED in order to win his fights. In all of Pacquiao fight, NSAC.., which is the responsible agancy, tested and cleared Pacquiao. Team Mayweather is indirectly accusing NSAC of incompetence and corruption in connection with Manny Pacquiao’s continued succees. floyd mayweather was obviously trying to have the advantages against pacquiao just like what he did to marquez. he has so many alibis, the latest of which is an Olympic-type drug testing. the commissioner of the nevada athletic commission, keith kizer, has already spoken and he said pacquiao has been passing every pre- and post-fight tests for the past eight years. this family of arrogant individuals (mayweathers) are just looking for possible reasons to avoid fighting pacquiao because they know, deep in their rotten hearts, that floyd’s ‘0′ will have to go when he fights pacquiao.

Manny pac has always been clean - certfied by the Nevada State Commission who has the authority to make up the rules. Since when is a boxing fighter make up the rules for a fight? I think we should go by the Commission’s rules, it’s their job not Mayweather’s.
Related, all of a sudden Floyd wants a FAIR FIGHT with a smaller guy…since he last CHEATED Juan Manuel Marquez of being over the AGREED weight limit.

i have to disagree with some of the comments because the skill level of moneymay is far superior to pacman. mayweather has the reach advantage, he is the naturally bigger guy and most of all, the smarts. however, pacquiao has the edge in power, style and importantly, the heart. pacquiao has the warrior mentality and pacman victory would be good to boxing. mayweather’s name sad to say cannot be mentioned when your talking about courage and heart. worse, he’s name is synonymous to cherry-picker, trash talker, and cowardly. he is simply the best talent that doesn’t want to mix it up with quality opposition. i’m sorry for him.

i agree with some of your points. True, that PBF has a slight advantage in skill. BUT, PacMan’s heart more than makes up for it. This is like the battle of Yin and Yang, Brains and Brawn. in a video game, Pacman is like the hero, and PBF is like the evil genius doctor that plays the villain.
In my opinion, PBF thinks he is the best, and he’s sure of his victory, which is of very hot debate right now, and that is very normal, since every fan has his opinion. PBF is undoubtedly great with his skills, but the way I see it, PacMan is ready to accept his defeat if he ever does lose. He is ready to take PBF’s sharp punches,and is ready for his almost perfect defense. PacMan’s only wish is for PBF to trade punches with him and test their skills with each other which, unfortunately, PBF is obviously scared of. So scared that it won’t surprise me if he pissed in his pants while watching PacMan give Votto the beating of his life. Truely, GAYWEATHER really fits his personality. Props to Cotto for being so nice and a true Peurto Rican warrior in and out of the ring, before and after the fight.
